John discusses plants that really justify their place in the garden and how to select them
Rosy Hardy – The Plants are the Stars of the Show
Recognised as the most successful female exhibitor at Chelsea with 22 Gold Medals to her credit, Rosy Hardy first exhibited in 1992.Rosy admits that when she started, herbaceous perennials were unpopular and described as ‘weeds’ by some of her fellow exhibitors. Hardy’s must take some credit for changing minds.
John Massey – The Magic of the Changing Seasons – Spring into Summer
John firmly believes the garden is “somewhere you want to go every day of the year.” His garden and nursery has featured on TV and has been described by Carol Klein as ”the most loved and looked after garden I’ve ever had the pleasure of visiting.”
Plants will be for sale from: Green End Farm Nursery, Hardy’s Cottage Garden Plants, Morton Plants Nursery, Ridgefield Cottage Nursery
Facilities provided by the hotel include buffet lunch at £6, cakes and refreshments throughout the day, a bar, and special rates for overnight stays before and after the Conference should you wish to explore the area – RHS Harlow Carr where there is a Plant Heritage Sale on Sun 5 May, Harewood House and York Gate are all within a 10 mile radius.
